Cirrhosis of liver is the 11th leading cause of death in the US. About 25,000 people die from cirrhosis of liver every year.

The diagnosis of cirrhosis is by clinical history, physical examination and lab tests. Sometimes a liver biopsy is done. CT scan and ultrasound of the abdomen is also used.
|
The cirrhosis is treated by identifying the cause of cirrhosis. Diuretics are used to trat fluid retention. Bleeding from cirrhosis is treated by endoscopy. If liver condition progressively deteriorates liver transplantation is an option.
